When Valerie was done taking her bath, she stepped out of the tub with and wrapped her body with a towel – a towel she had gotten from the shower stand.

She supported her hands on her chest as she walked out, taking some leaps. And getting into the bedroom, she couldn’t find Jericho in. But there were some clothes on the bed which made her wonder how he was able to get those clothes in such a short period of time. Or was it possible he’s always had female clothes with him?

Well, not wanting him to walk in and find her in just a towel, she took the clothes without hesitancy and wore them on.

Then, she looked around the room, giving it a little admiration. Despite how small it was, it was still classy and beautiful.

Where could Jericho be anyway?

She decided to go out and check for him, still trying as fight with the voices and memories in her head.

She walked out of the room, out to the sitting room, but couldn’t find him. Huh?
Then, she decided to check the balcony and there she found him, standing with a glass of wine, staring into space.

It was so dark out there and Valerie wondered if he wasn’t so scared of the dark – well, because she was.

Noticing her presence, Jericho turned slightly to look at her and she went ahead to stand beside him.

“You’re done?” He asked and she simply nodded.

He took a gulp from his glass and continued staring into space.

“I… I need to go now” Valerie said after a few seconds.
She was beginning to wonder if he wasn’t going to say anything about it at all.

Jericho sighed and drank from his glass again.

“It’s late, Valerie” he grunted. “You should sleep here for tonight”.

“I can’t!” She shook her head. “My parents must be so worried about me already. And trust me, by tomorrow morning, we’ll be having air forces all over the place and you might possibly get affected. So, just take me home, please”.

Jericho scoffed while looking into his glass.

“Of all things, Valerie” he scoffed. “You really think I’d be worried about men in uniforms?”

Valerie almost snorted.
“Well, I’m… I’m worried about my parents. So please, just take me home” she said anxiously and for a longer time, Jericho was silent.

Then, he emptied the wine in his glass and turned to her.

“Fine, let’s go” he mumbled and started walking away, but Valerie didn’t follow.

“Jericho” she called and he stopped to look at her again.
She dallied for a while, contemplating if he’d accept her idea or not.

“What is it, Valerie?” Jericho asked, clearly sounding impatient.

Her eyes danced on the floor before she was able to look at him.

“Since…your brother has warned and threatened me to stay away from you, don’t you think you should just get these spots off my face so I don’t ever have to disturb any of you – ever again?” She said and Jericho’s dark eyes dimmed.

He cleared a lump from his throat and turned around to back her, seemingly giving it a thought

Valerie felt so nervous as she stood behind him, wondering what his final answer would be. She badly wished he’d agree to it because she was sincerely tired of being in danger and threats. She also didn’t want to have anything to do with such guys that were dangerous and could kill within the blink of an eye.

Goodness!

“I can do that” Jericho suddenly turned to her and said. “But on one condition”.

Valerie felt her heart skip as he said the words. What condition again??

“God, Jericho! Don’t talk about s.ex please. I…I can’t do that” she shook her head frustratedly and Jericho chuckled.

“Relax, Val. I’m not talking about s.ex. I’m just asking for a date”. He replied and Valerie’s eyes grew confused.

“A…A date?” She stuttered, not wanting to believe that was what he meant.

“You heard me, Val. A date”. He repeated.

“B… But why? I don’t understand”.

Jericho sighed and went to lean on the railings.

“Well…” He stared into space. “I’ve only been here for a short period of time and truth be told, I don’t know a zilch about this City. So, if you promise to take me out tomorrow, take me out to the most important places, tell me some rules, the way humans live…you know? Just make me feel human tomorrow. And as soon as that is achieved, I’ll take the spots off your face”.

Valerie was flabbergasted.

“Hold on…You… you’re not human??” She asked, trying so hard not to yell.
Her eyes were dilating.

“Are you taking the deal or not?” Jericho scoffed and she blinked rapidly.
Well… she didn’t have much of a choice, did she?
Besides, she’s always suspected these guys weren’t Humans. Like… which human can make some miserable spots pop up a lady’s face and frustrate her?

“I’ll do it” she said perfunctorily.
“Provided… you’ll take off the spots as soon as I’m done”.

“Perfect. Now, let’s go home”. Jericho smirked and started walking away and this time around, Valerie followed.

The road was so dark and quiet as they drove home and it made Valerie a little scared – just a little – because somehow, sitting beside someone like Jericho made her feel a little relived.

He drove at such a high speed, she felt they might have a crash. And when they finally stopped in front of her gate, she couldn’t help but breath out in relief.

“Thank you… for saving me” Valerie felt she had to say so, realizing she’d have been in danger if it wasn’t for him.

“You’re welcome. You should get out. It’s pretty late already” Jericho replied and unlocked the door for her.

But she hesitated.

“Jericho”, she called. “About feeling human, I think we should start now. And the first step, you don’t use the word *get out*. Preferably, it should be *leave* or *go*”.

Jericho looked down at the sterling and scoffed.

“Fine. Leave, Valerie. Go” he said and Valerie just smiled and left the car.
