JERICHO’S WEAKNESS Episode 82

Jericho’s heart ached; for the first time in months, his heart ached.

That was the necklace! The one he had left in Valerie’s care. It was no duplicate! What was it doing with Atlancia??

The boys, their heads still bowed, could notice the prince staring at them and couldn’t help but feel confused. What was going on? Were they doing something wrong?

With his hands releasing from his back, Jericho walked towards them – particularly towards Max with his eyes pinned on the necklace.

At that point, Max couldn’t take it anymore and had to lift his eyes to look at the King, possibly know what was going on. He was getting scared to the teeth, confusion dawning on him. Has he done something wrong?

Finally standing in front of him, Jericho touched the necklace.

“Where did you get this?” He asked frostily, his tone echoing with some deadliness.

Max was stunned as his brows arched. He looked down at the necklace which the prince was holding and staring at.
Hold on; was he admiring it or….

“My….My Prince….”

“I’ll ask one more time, where did you get this?” Jericho repeated.
The guards behind him were already at alert.

Max’s friends were begining to take some steps away, not wanting to be touched by whatever mess their friend must had gotten into. And Max on the other hand, was confused. Why was the prince interested in the necklace? But, he knew better than to let the prince repeat himself.

“It …it fell from a lady, My Prince” he replied, eyes on the floor.

“What lady?” Jericho asked almost immediately, his voice getting darker.
It couldn’t be what he was thinking.

“I…. I don’t know. But I had ran into a strange lady some weeks ago and she had the necklace on. I don’t know anything about her; but when she ran away, I found the necklace at her spot and knew it belonged to her” he further explained.

Jericho’s eyes dimmed, and for the first time, looked at the boy’s face.

“I need you tell me the truth” his voice was strict and cold as his eyes.
“Who is she?”

“I’m…. I’m telling you the truth, My Prince. I…. I don’t know a thing about her” Max stuttered in fear.

“How did you meet her? Where did you meet her? What did she say to you?”

“I just… I just met her in the woods. She was throwing up and wouldn’t tell me where she came from. But…. she was looking for you; asked if I knew you. My Prince, she… she seemed different from us, had different set of clothes on and didn’t completely speak like us. I was thinking, she wasn’t from Atlancia. I swear, My Prince; this is all I know. I swear”. He was breathing so hard.

With his eyes fixed on the Princes’ he could see the softness in his eyes; how those balls melted right in front of him.

Valerie; Jericho thought. It was Valerie.

Fraily, his hands dropped from the necklace, his eyes fluttering. He could feel his breath held in suspension. It was no mistake; that lady was Valerie.

Max couldn’t understand why this was so important to the prince. Does he know her?

Jericho was almost getting crowded by his emotions, and not wanting to look that weak, he whisked the necklace from the boy’s neck and walked away.

It hurt Max a little that the necklace was taken from him, but of course, it was better than losing his life.

Walking into his room, he found a place to sit with the necklace still in his hand. He felt so weak; confused.

Valerie was in Atlancia? But, why? How? How was she able to get here from earth? And why would she come in the first place after so many months? Could it be possible she had a message for him? Or something was wrong?

Oh! So many questions….He needed to find a way. Where could she possibly be?

Why is it taking so much time to update the story, we wre not enjoying it like that, cos it is most likely we don’t remember what happened in the last episodes by the time you update it. Please help work on it. Thanks.
