CHAPTER NINE

Jasmine’s POV
“Mr Raymond is releasing the test results today” Jennie said.
“Yeah, I know” I replied lacking attention.
“What’s up with the mood swing? ” She observed so quickly and asked. “It’s not like you didn’t do the test well, you are a genius” She said..
I smiled forcefully.
“What’s wrong? ”
“Jennie what does it mean to get stucked while staring at someone and why does my heart skips a beat or even beat fast when I’m with the person, I don’t know what’s wrong with me ” I said,placing my head on my desk.
“Uhm,A guy? ” She asked.
“Well yeah” I answered.
“You are in love Jasmine, you are” She blurted.
“What, no” I denied.
“You are seriously in love” Jennie said again.
“I said I’m not” I screamed at her..
She frowned
“Uhm Jenny, what if you’ve offended the person and you just realise your mistakes and you want to be at least friends with the person and… ”
Jennie looked at me with a blank and confused look.
“Ok,what i’m just trying to say is, how do i apologize to someone I deeply offended?” I asked.
“It’s simple, walk up to him and tell him you are sorry ” Jennie said.
It’s not as easy as she just said it… Can I walk up to Shannon and tell him sorry? Oh no!
“Uhm Okay” I said.
“How is the handsome stranger in your house? ” Jennie asked.
“He’s good and charming as usual..” I said without knowing when those words escaped my mouth.
“Oh now, you see he’s charming?? ”
“Huh? no, never! ”
“But you just said he’s charming”
“I didn’t”
“You did” she argued.
“Hell nooo! ” I screamed.
“You don’t care about the guy anyway so why are you screaming? ”
“Oh right” I said faking a smile.

Shannon’s POV
“Your sister has been acting strangely lately” I told Alex.
“Jasmine? ”
“Who else? ”
“What did she do? ”
“She was calm and friendly yesterday” I told him.
“That’s a lie, friendly? the word isn’t even in her dictionary”
I smiled “True, she yelled at me same yesterday…i guess she has started having attitude swing”
“My sister? I’m not sure she’s from this world. By the way, why did she yell at you? ”
“She slipped and almost fell but I held her so she didn’t fall and instead of thanking me, she was staring at me and I let go of her” I briefly explained and Alex laughed..
“Let’s see, if a girl stares at you, it’s either she likes u or she’s farting slowly” Alex said..
I laughed “Farting? Disgusting!”
“Jasmine can’t like me, it’s impossible”
“Yeah, it’s impossible..Jasmine don’t have feelings too” Alex said.
“Well how was your date with Ivy? ”
“It was fun, I’m gonna see her today” He exclaimed.
“Oh” I said showing a little concern.
“Do you want me to talk about it? ” He asked.
“Err, noo” I know he won’t hesitate to tell me all what happened between he and Ivy but I wasn’t interested to know about it.

Jasmine’s POV
I came to meet Emily who was watching the TV alone in the living room..I wonder if she understood what she is seeing.
Emily saw me and immediately turned her gaze at the chocolate I was with.. ..it’s obvious she was craving for it already.
“Hey Emily” I said to her.
“Sis Jasmine! ” She replied,she isn’t even afraid if me anymore maybe because I’ve been nice to her lately.
“So how was school today? ” I asked.
“It was fine and fun ”
“You like the school right? ” I asked and she nodded still staring at my chocolate.
“Do you want it? ” I asked her.
“Yes” She replied sharply.
I gave it to her and patted her head gently.
I do not believe I could touch the same girl I called a zombie…Now I could see it, she’s a little orphan and she needs the greatest love.
I felt sorry for how I have treated her since she came to the house.
“I love chocolate” Emily said.
I smiled as I watched her rip off the nylon and in no second, the chocolate was in her mouth.
“Is your brother in?” I asked her.
“Yes, Kuya is in the room”
“Err.. Emily” I called softly.
She murmured ‘cos her mouth was filled with chocolate.
“Would you help me with something? ” I asked her.
“Yes” She nodded in affirmation.
“Good girl” I patted her head again.”Go tell your brother I said ‘Hi’ ” That’s a good start, I think “And tell him I’m sorry for how rude I’ve been to him lately”
Emily gare at me like she was gonna laugh..
“No, just tell him I said ‘Hi'” I quickly said.
“Ok” Emily responded.
“Now go” I said helping her down from the chair as I watched her entered their room.
I sighed hoping for an hopeful response..

Shannon’s POV
“Kuya” Emily called me as soon as she entered the room.
“Sweetie” I replied, dropping my cell-phone on the bed.. I barely use the phone ‘cos I had just two contacts (Uncle Justin and Mr Jeremy) ..
I saw her with a chocolate..
“Emily did you take that from the fridge? taking what’s not yours is stealing haven’t I told you? ” I quarried.
“I didn’t steal it, Sis Jasmine gave it to me” she replied.
“Why? ”
“I don’t know”
“Sugary things are not good for the teeth Emily” I sighed,picking up my phone again..
“Sis Jasmine said ‘Hi’ and she said she’s sorry for being rude to you” Emily said.
“She said so? ” I asked.
“No, she said I shouldn’t tell you that she is sorry for being rude to you” Little Emily said.
I smiled.
“Ok,where is she?
“In the city-room” Emily said..
She preferred to call the sitting room a city room ‘cos of how big it is.
I stood up to leave and Emily asked for my phone which I gave to her along with a warning that it shouldn’t fall..

When Jasmine saw me coming out from the room, she stood up to leave.
“Hey” I said walking towards her.
“Ahhihi… Hi” She stammared and returned to sit.
“Emily delivered your message” I said sitting next to her and she moved a bit away.
I smiled, looks like it’s what I’m thinking..
“Ye..ah” She continued to stammer.
“You are sorry you’ve been rude to me? ”
“Huh, did Emily tell you that? ” She asked.
“Yeah ”
“Gosh” I heard her murmured to herself.
“So you are? ” I asked.
“Well, yes” she said and I pretended not to have heard her.
“Did you say anything? ”
“I’m sorry” She repeated.
I moved closer to her intentionally and she almost screamed but I placed a palm on her mouth..
“I didn’t hear what you said so I came closer”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry” She stood up and said almost shouting.
“Now you are yelling at me.. I don’t think you are sorry” I said and she frowned.
“Did you apologize to Emily for calling her a zombie? ” I asked her.
“Not yet”
“Why? ”
“She knows I’m sorry” she said slowly.
“Oh really? After bribing her with a chocolate, you think she has forgiven you? ” I asked and she
was mute.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” I asked her and noticed she was avoiding to look at me..
“Jasmine” I called her name yet she remained mute.
“See,you are not sorry, you are only pretending to be” I concluded,smirking at her,standing up and returning to the room.
