Walking into the classroom, Jeremy’s gaze consciously dart towards Alicia’s seat and he noticed it was empty. Her friends were present but she wasn’t and homeroom had just ended minutes back.
He walked to his seat and smiled back at the new student when she flashed him a half smile after their gaze met.

“Hey J!” Harrison greeted.
“Hey. Isn’t Alicia in school today?” Jeremy asked. Suddenly remembering that he hadn’t called her yesterday to ask about her health even though he knew she was sick..
He felt terrible about it.

He would’ve blamed it on Rebecca for distracting him with her silly pranks and then the project but he couldn’t. It was his fault. Regardless, he should’ve found time to check up on her, she’s his friend.

“Yeah. Her parent insisted she takes the day off and I agree” he said. Jeremy nodded.
“Is that the project Mr Bricks gave us?” Jeremy asked, referring to the papers on Harrison desk.
“Most of it. My partner and I are almost done” he said.
“Oh..you guys are quick considering the topics you were given” he said.
“Yeah.. thanks to my partner. She’s pretty smart,” Harrison said. ‘Clingy and annoying’ he added inwardly.
“Lucky you. Brie and I are getting close too. Before the week runs out, we should be done with the whole thing” Jeremy said.
“Speaking of Mr Bricks, here he comes” Harrison nudged Jeremy funnily.

“Good day, class!” Mr Bricks walked in, his spectacles on his nose bridge and a huge hardcover note with him.
Jeremy and Harrison exchanged looks and laughed quietly..

“Hi,” he said, acting all nervous like he always does when he’s with her.
Rebecca stared as Jose as she stepped out of the class fully.
“Yeah hi. What do you want?” She asked.
“Um.. I heard you got transferred yesterday, it bothered me so I came to see if you’re okay” he said.
“And if I’m not?” She crossed her arm, giving him one of her cold looks, the one he feared.
“Um.. I-I could talk to principal Finn about it. You know, plead on your behalf? Truth is, I don’t want you here either” he said.
“I’m fine; I’m not a baby that you should be bothered about. And besides, I doubt that Mr Finn would even listen to you, my transfer is based on agreement” she said, giving him a small smile.
“Oh.. well, I can try if you want me to”
“Nah..I think you should put that effort in your studies first. To me, talking to unintelligent student is an allergy. Do well in your studies and maybe..” her voice trailed off.
“We’ll be friends?” Jose completed, his eyes lighting up.
“Er..I didn’t say that but maybe” she said and Jose let out a wide grin. “Before you get all excited, don’t forget it depends on your grade. If I’m not impressed, standing side by side with you will be impossible; that’s how allergic I am” she made her cold expression visible again, pushing the tease behind it.
Jose face darkened then it brightened up again.
“I’ll do it. I’ll get a high score and become your friend!”
“There’ll be a Math test next week. I’ll take your word for it though so until then, don’t come here to see me” she said, gave him a frown and walked back to the class.

Jose rubbed his temple, remembering her words about being her friend, a smile suddenly crept to his face and he nodded.
He have to pass that test no matter what.
…

It was lunch break when Jeremy finally found time to check his phone, it had vibrated twice in the middle of class and he hadn’t been able to check it until now..
“Come on J, let’s go have lunch” Harrison said, standing beside him and staring at him as he tried to open the message. “What’re you doing? Aren’t you going to the cafeteria?” He added, when Jeremy made no move.
“Er..I just need to check this text message on my phone first. I’ll join you guys later, save a seat for me” he said.
“Okay!” Harrison said and left.
Jeremy stared at the video Rebecca had sent to him.
Without wasting time, he played it.
JD’s WHY, video started playing. As usual it was a video of her on a chair, playing her guitar and singing the song, her backside in view with some other supplements scenarios to lengthen the video.
Jeremy found himself singing along but after the whole song and the end of the video normally, it didn’t stop.
“Ahh!” JD suddenly turned and Jeremy gasped when her face came in view, she took off the colored wig she was putting on and sighed.
Jeremy’s eyes widen at each move.
“Mom? Why are you still recording?” She said, moving to grab the recorder but it was moved backwards and away from her. “Stop it!” She whined.
“Come on honey, just say something to the camera? Your fans, Act like you’re in front of ’em” She said.
“Um okay,” she said and cleared her throat dramatically. “Hello? It’s Rebecca, I’m not using JD now cos I’m off cover,” she said and gave a short chuckle, “so I really wanna thank you guys for supporting and loving me. It must be kinda hard liking someone that’s scared to reveal her face or identity but I truly truly appreciate y’all for sticking with me. I love you guys so much, so so much guys” she said, blowing kisses to her imaginary fans.
“Aw.. we love you too, honey. You know I’m always your number 1 fan” Mrs McCoy said. Steadying the recorder on it’s stand and walking to meet Rebecca.
“Thanks Mom. Can you stop now, please?”
“Just a little more. It’s not like you’ll not crop it off anyways.
Let’s make a short skit” she said, posing beside Rebecca.
“Not today, mom. I’m tired!” Rebecca stood up, her body covered the camera and Immediately it went off, the video stopped..

Jeremy shut his mouth, realizing he had left it open all through.
He saw the messages after the video.
**Sorry about yesterday, it truly was unintentional**
**You can’t tell anyone about this. I opened up to you cos I believe you wouldn’t if I tell you not to. So please don’t, it’s important**
The messages read.

Jeremy slipped the phone carelessly in his pocket and began running to the stairs, heading to Rebecca’s class.
As he ran, the words he had said to her earlier that days rang in his head repeatedly and he sighed heavily..
He Fu*cked up pretty bad!

He reached her class, swung open the door and barged inside. Waving off the desperate stared that lunged towards him from the few students in class at that moment. He searched through the students, not finding her, he ran out.

As he ran back to the hallway, he did a quick mind calculation.
It was lunch period; getting the idea, he ran to the stairs and head down, to the cafeteria.

He walked in hurriedly and scanned around the cafeteria hall, hoping to find her.
A wave net his sight, he traced it.
“Jeremy! Over here!” Brianna called him from where she sat with Harrison and the others.
He walked to them.
“I saved you a se-
“Have you seen Rebecca around here?” He asked, cutting Harrison off.
“McCoy?” Fiona asked and he nodded.
“Um.. she’s over there” Brianna pointed to where she was.
He traced it and found, without another word, he rushed to meet her.
She stared at him, as if expecting him.
“You’re-” he shortened his sentence, recalling her last message and the students in the hall. “Can we talk outside?” He asked.
“Yeah sure” she said and stood up.
Not wanting to burst out before they made it outside, Jeremy took her palm and walked out of the cafeteria, with her struggling to catch up with him and his friends including almost half of the cafeterias’ population staring at him.
