“No way man, you did not just do that!” Stanley blurted out as soon as I reached my seat.
“Course I did, were you blind?” I returned with a smirk as I hung my backpack across one shoulder and checked something out in my phone.
”Dude, that was epic! ” Chris yelled and slapped my back.
“What do you think Jessica would do if she finds out?” Vic asked.
I shrugged. “Whatever. Let’s get outta here before the paparazzi jams us in,” I said. Some bodyguards helped pave way for us across the stormy sea🌊 of drooling, crazy girls and frantic reporters eager for a story on their entertainment blog.

Fed up with their nosiness, I paused and turned to them.
“Osos has only this to say for now on behalf of the COVS boys: Get a life y’all.”
The four of us continued out until we were safe in our limo and driving to the penthouse.

Finally I managed to reach the hostel with the help of the bodyguards who sneaked me out of the auditorium through the back door, after most of the news people had gone.
I put all my prizes under the bed and threw myself on my bed without undressing. I wanted to sleep and not think about any “weird” thing that happened with Osos back there.
But the loud ringing of my damned phone would have none of that.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Congratulations Umbria!” Maggie’s happy scream came on as soon as I picked, I held the phone away from my ear until she sobered.
“Thanks Maggie,” I said.
“You don’t sound too excited, Um. What’s wrong?”
“I’m just…..exhausted. So damned tired. How’s dad?”
“He’s over the moon! Even your mom was happy, strange fellow, that woman. Bruce B, Louisa and the customers…. everyone cramped in to watch! Well, except Carl. Did you actually kiss Osos?” she whispered.
I rubbed at my forehead. “I didn’t kiss him, he did…. a light brush of the lips… just teeny tiny….I hardly felt a thing and…. oh, Maggie! Why me? Now my face would be allover the internet. I’ll never be comfortable again,” I cried.
She sighed. “Just take deep breaths and rest Um. When you arrive, we’ll sort this out, OK?”
“Mmmh.”
“Carl really likes you.”
“I know. He must feel bad.”.
” Yeah, he just stepped out of the bakery. Gotta go now. And hey, stop sulking! You won. Celebrate. ”
“Thanks Maggie. Night.”
“You too.”
I threw my phone under my pillow.
I heard Emelda’s voice as she came in.
I snuggled deep into sleep, trying to force myself not to think of the kiss that obviously meant nothing to him.
Or me either.

“Jessica quit whining already, you’re driving me nuts! Jeez!”
I dumped myself on the sofa in the sitting room of penthouse. The others were munching on a late night snack, while I was here trying to pacify Jessica that the kiss earlier was nothing, just something Osos would do.
”OK babe, you know what? We’ll talk tomorrow or so. Right now, you’re interrupting me and the guys struggle for pizza, and they’re gaining the upper hand.”
I hung up and threw the phone on the sofa.
“So that was the Umbria girl eh? She’s hot,” Stanley said and grinned.
“Yeah, but don’t even go there man,” I said and took a slice of pizza.
“She’s resuming Primrose next week.”
“I know,” I said simply
Can’t wait for that.

It was all fun and congrats when I arrived home the next day.
My dad was elated.
Hannah was trying to be happy, because she knew that little by little, I was proving her wrong in everything.
Bruce B was happy too, and gave me a day off work.

That evening, I was sitting outside my house, watching the cars go by. A newspaper 📰was on my lap.
The cameramen captured the kiss scene, of all that happened!
It was trendy on every entertainment website, and on Instagram.
Gosh, why me?
“Seems you’ve forgotten all about me.”
I looked up.
”Hi Carl.”
“Hey Um, congrats.”
“Thanks.”
”You sound dull.”
“I’m tired. I’m thinking of school next week. It feels uncomfy going to school with all those rich kids. I saw how they behaved.”
“Um, you’re acting different. The Umbria I know doesn’t give a damn to any shit people say. She’s a fighter. Brave. Bold. Beautiful.”
He was looking into my eyes now.
”Thanks Carl. ” I looked away.
We talked about a few things, and then he had to leave for home.
Sorry I can’t accept your like or love, or anyone’s own for that matter.

I’ve got a life to live, dreams to fulfill.
