“You were gonna leave without telling me.” Xander asked again.

Kaylan stared at the floor and shook her head. “I didn’t know you would wanna know.”

“Look at me.” Xander ordered, staring intently at her.

Kaylan slowly lifted her eyes and stared at him with all the courage she could muster.

“Look straight at me when I’m talking to you. Others can practice that but not you.”

Kaylan nodded and stared down.

“You are going on horse riding with Akim… without telling me.”

“It has really been boring and he just wanted to take us out, to help us.” Kaylan replied. “I didn’t know you would wanna know.”

“Everything you said last night is what I’m trying to consider.” Xander replied, his eyes scanning her face. As always,he was finding it hard to look away.

She was extremely beautiful and very pretty.

“I said things I shouldn’t have said. I’m sorry.” Kaylan mumbled.

Xander looked away and turned slightly. “Axel.”, He called.

Axel showed up immediately. “Yes my Lord?”

“Get Akim up here.”

Axel left immediately and few minutes later, he came back with Akim.

“You were gonna go out with the princess.” Xander said, glaring up at Akim who shrugged.

“She was bored. I was gonna take her out with her friend.” Akim replied.

“Axel.” Xander called again, his voice hard and cruel. It was obvious he was angry.

Axel came out again, bowed and waited for his order.

“Take the princess back to her room.” Xander ordered.

Kaylan glanced at Xander immediately he said that with surprising boldness and a little bit of anger. She nearly scoffed but refrained. She was mad. Very.

“Let’s go my princess.” Axel said as he turned to face Kaylan.

Kaylan stood still, breathing hard. She was so angry.

Akim smiled at her. “Go with him.” He whispered.

Kaylan breathed in, turned and walked off. Axel followed immediately.

Now left alone with Akim, Xander stood up and turned to face him. “I will let this slid, Akim but there won’t be a next time. I don’t want this to ever repeat itself. Don’t go anywhere with princess Kaylan without my permission.” Xander said quietly but deadly.

Akim shrugged and stared back at him. “I wouldn’t go out with her if she wasn’t so bored, lonely”

“I will let this slid like I said before but this will be the last time I’m showing you mercy. The princess is involved, that is why I’m letting you off the hook. Leave my presence.”

“Yes my Lord.” Akim drawled and bow down dramatically before leaving the veranda.

Xander sat back again, his mind on Kaylan. Was she there bored? He asked himself.

“I can’t believe he sent us back! That man sent me back!” Kaylan fumed as she got back into her room with Jaden.

Jaden sat on the bed, trying to hide the smile of relieve on her face.

“Aren’t you gonna say anything?” Kaylan jerked around to look at her friend and found her smiling. “Seriously?”

“What do you want me to say? I warned you, didn’t I?” Jaden replied.

“I just wanna have some fun. Is that too much to ask? I don’t think I can bear this anymore. This is not marriage, this is captivity!” Kaylan exclaimed, rasing both her hands above her head.

“Calm down, Kaylan. Getting all worked up won’t solve a thing.” Jaden said and Kaylan turned to look at her.

“Maybe you should tell me what’s gonna work best!’ she snapped and left the room.

Jaden rolled her eyes and giggled. She was strangely happy about the cancelled trip.

“I heard about what happened, Akim.” Madam Nadine said as she came into Axel’s room. She leaned on the door, folding her arms. “I’m pretty sure you do not want to get into trouble with Xander, right?”

“Mother, please. I don’t want to talk about they rude guy.” Akim replied.

His mother scoffed. “Rude guy? You are the one being rude here, son. Why would you go out with his wife without informing him? Isn’t that rude enough?”

Akim laughed shortly. “Wife? I don’t see they nephew of yours acting like a husband to that poor girl.”

“Then it’s none of your business. It’s not your business, Akim. Stay clear of the princess before she gets you into trouble. You know how dangerous Lord Xander is. I’m surprised he even spared you.”

Akim looked at her. “What would he have done?”

“Maybe you should try going out with the princess again, then you shall find out what he will do.” Madam Nadine replied and left the room.

Akim sighed and buried his face between his palm.

There was another knock on his door and he rolled his eyes. “Who is it again!”

“A girl named Jaden will like to see you.” The maid replied from outside the door.

“Well let her come in here because I’m not coming out.” Akim said and almost immediately, Jaden walked into the room.

Akim looked up, surprised. It was as if she was waiting outside his door. “What do want, Jaden?” He asked nicely.

“Nothing serious. I’m just here to see if you are still alive.” Jaden replied, looking all over at him.

“Okay, that wasn’t a bit funny.” Akim replied.

“At least, you know you can’t go out with Kaylan anymore. It’s high time you stay away from her. Stay away.” Jaden warned.

“Okay, Jaden. Do you have any problem with me? Have I done anything to you? I took you like a friend, didn’t I? What’s your headache over me?” Akim asked. He stood up, facing the girl in his room.

Jaden moved back slightly. “I’m just asking you to stay away from my married friend. She’s married. Hang out with those who aren’t.”

Akim stared at her for a full minute. Suddenly, he smiled. He laughed and looked away the stared back at her. “Are you passing a message, Jaden? What are you trying to say to me?”

Jaden frowned at him. “Nothing! I’m just telling you the truth. Bye.” She quickly walked to the door and dashed out of the room.

Akim smiled again as he stared at the door. No way. Maybe he was misunderstanding the whole thing but for things to get clearer, he will make that happen.

“My Lord….are you heading out?” Axel asked when he saw Xander dressing up.

Xander continued dressing up without looking at him. He dressed his hair and motioned his shoes with his finger without looking.

Axel quickly got them and set them on the floor.

Xander put them on and stood in front of the mirror thereafter. He stared at himself in the mirror, feeling funny. It has been long he stood in front of the mirror or bothered about how he looked although he knew he has always been cute and handsome but after dressing up that midday, he wanted to see how handsome he looked again.

Satisfied by the reflection he saw, he turned to look at Axel who was still in the room. “Bring Kaylan here.”

Axel bowed and quickly left to carry out the orders.

Kaylan came into the room, wondering why Xander would send for her just after sending her back to her room.

She stood in the room and just then, Lord Xander came out of the dressing room and walked towards her.

Kaylan’s lips parted in admiration. Gosh. She mumbled in her head. She couldn’t stop looking. He was putting on a dark long jacket atop a white armless silk and white pants. His boots were dark too and his hair, also dark. He wore it back, making his face even more cute and visible. He has always hide some part of his face with his hair.

Xander stood in front of her, glad that she was still dressed up and was still looking as beautiful as ever. He could also see the admiration in her eyes. He couldn’t believe how happy that made him. “Let’s go, princess.” He said, trying to keep his voice as soft as he could.

Kaylan glanced up at him and blinked. “Go? Where?”

“You wanted to go horse riding. Come. I shall take you.”
