I paused and looked at Daniel.
“Do you like someone who doesn’t feel the same way?” I
asked calmly.
“I don’t and don’t try to pry into my love life” Daniel said
and I swear I saw pain in his eyes.
He stood up and tried to leave the room but I blocked his
path.
“Tell me, who is this person you like?” I asked.
“It’s no one” Daniel sighed.
“It’s not no one, clearly you just made me realise you like
someone and the person is currently breaking your heart!” I
stated.
“No one is breaking my heart and can you just let me pass
and we can let this conversation slide past us” Daniel sighed.
“Of course we can’t, you’re taking Giselle’s side because you
like someone who doesn’t feel the same way?”
Daniel sighed. “Look, I don’t want to regret anything so can
we just let this slide… Please.”
“No” I shook my head.
“Would it kill you to not know everything?” Daniel scoffed.
“It would” I replied.
“You’re going to regret having this conversation then”
Daniel said lowly but in a way he wanted me to hear it.
“is it Annie?” I asked.
Daniel rolled his eyes. “Like I said, I don’t have feelings for
Annie”
“Then who is it?” I asked.
Wait.
“Is it June?” I asked after it felt like something had slammed
my inner mental screen.
Daniel looked at me. “Now would you let me pass” he said.
My body failed me as they moved to the side and watched
as Daniel left the room.
Well I’ll be damned.
Daniel likes June?
June.
His words suddenly repeated itself in my head
*“Don’t say it like I’m taking sides with her, I’m just saying,
I know what it means and feels to like someone who doesn’t
even want to look at you the way you want them to, who
wouldn’t even want to think about being with you for a
slight second, how do you expect to Giselle to feel when the
person she likes is in front of her but she can’t even grab it,
that hurts you know”*

I stormed out of my room and met Daniel by the staircase
going down.
“Since when?” I yelled and my voice echoed.
He sighed and turned. “Can we not talk about this?”
“I don’t see why you keep pushing the conversation away,
you have a crush on my girlfriend since when?” I asked.
“Knowing when won’t change the fact that I do have a crush
on her” Daniel said with a lot of gut.
Well.
“Just tell me when.” I said through gritted teeth.
“Look I don’t know okay… I’m not sure, but I think it’s going
to almost a year… Look don’t be mad, I thought I was just
seeing her as a friend, but later on I realised, I judged too
quickly” Daniel said with his voice low.
I didn’t know what to say i just stood there and gave a
heavy sigh.
Why June.
And he never showed it. But still why June.
“So, are you planing to tell her how you feel or what?” I
asked.
“I can’t possibly do that, she’ll reject me like how everyone
rejects pickles” Daniel said and gave a small laugh but you
could clearly see the sadness in his eyes.”She likes you too much and I don’t want to embarrass
myself, but don’t worry I’m sure this is just a one sided
thing, I’ll get over her ad soon as possible so you don’t have
to worry about anything” Daniel stated and with a smile, he
walked away.
I clenched my fist and sighed angrily. I wasn’t angry with
him it’s not his fault for liking someone, people can’t control
their hearts or tell their hearts who to love and who to hate.
But why June and why must it be Daniel, if only the
universe can have a say in this…*

Sitting in my room and having a cold drink, and talking to
Annie on the phone made the Sunday afternoon even more
brighter.
“Yeah, so my parents wants me to go to college
immediately, and they’re going to choose courses for me”
Annie sighed.
“You know Annie, one day you have to stand up to your
parents and tell them that you’re not a child.” I stated.
“I’ve said that to them like dozen times” Annie scoffed.
“Maybe you’re not telling them like they’re supposed to hear
it” I said and Annie sighed.
“maybe I will”.
“Good” I smiled.
“So your album will be released tomorrow.” annie said.
“Yeah”
“Your teasers are like everywhere” Annie stated.
“Well I’m grateful… For that” I smiled.
“Anyways June, oh did I tell you, my mom’s been acting
weird around me” Annie stated.
“Weird? You mean?”
“Like she’s always sitting down and I feel like she ignores
me sometimes, she looks like she wants to tell me something
but she doesn’t” Annie expound causing me to sigh.
“She’s not acting weird, you’re just being weird” I said.
“Oh please” I heard Annie said and imagined her rolling her
eyes.
I laughed. “Anyways, I need a siesta” I said to Annie.
“Yeah you do” Annie said before hanging up.
I dropped my phone and sighed tiredly.
I got on my bed and before I knew it, I was fast asleep…

I woke up that evening and just like every other single
evening, the sweet smell of perfect delicacies filled the
whole house.
My family and I had breakfast that evening and I went back
to my room.
And just immediately Erick gave me a call.
“HI” his voice said and surprisingly it was low.
“HI… How are you? You don’t sound too good, are you
okay?” I asked
I heard his small chuckle. “I love how you care me for so
much”.
I rolled my eyes. “Just tell me is there something wrong?”
“I’m actually kind of bothered and stressed out a bit, but
besides that I’m okay” Erick said and I could feel his smile.
“Bothered? Bothered by what?” I asked.
He hesitated for a while before answering. “Just bothered
that I’m actually being stressed.”
I laughed. “you say weird things”
“So how are you?” Erick asked.
“I’m fine, for now I guess” I said.
“Why do you say that?” he laughed.
“my album is being released tomorrow and you know after
that it’s all work and work, if only I have a clone, she’ll do
all the work and I’ll be the one resting” I sighed.
“Or you could stop thinking of a clone and actually live your
life” Erick said and I smiled.
“You’re right, if I did have a clone she’ll be resting, cause I
do enjoy being on stage”
“Now that’s the June I know” Erick said.
We talked for hours, it’s nothing new, we talked till Erick
started to sound sleepy, well I wasn’t sleepy but I didn’t want
him to stay awake because of me so I decided to place an
end to the call.
The night went older but I wasn’t sleepy. I decided to
listen to my music and I placed my headphone over my
head, singing along Lowly, before I knew it I was fast
asleepThe next morning I woke up and cringed to the music
bursting in my ears, I removed the headphone and stopped
the music from playing any further more.
My phone suddenly starts to ring and it was Hannah.
“June.!” Hannah called happily.
“Hannah… Uhm good morning? Why do you sound like you
just won the biggest lottery ever” I asked with a smile.
“Because it feels like I just did, or rather we just did. You
just broke a record.” Hannah squeaked.
“I did?” I gasped.
“Yeah, your album hasn’t been released yet, it will be
released five hours from now but it has already been sold
prepaid, and not just hundred but by thousands of people.
And that’s not even the record I’m talking about, your music
Video “gruesome” from your album which was released six
hours ago already has 99.1 million views in just three
hours.”
“Whoa.” I gasped.
I’m not dreaming right.
Since when did I become “so” popular.
“This is beautiful, I’m just so proud to be your manager”
Hannah said from the other line.
“I don’t even know what to say” I smiled.
I was excited. Wow this is huge.
“You should just stay happy, and suddenly Mr. Dhousten’s
suddenly saying you’re DH’s secret weapon.” Hannah
stated and laughed.
“Anyways I have to go June, just six hours and it’s already
in 99.9 million views, we haven’t even round up the twenty
four hours.” Hannah said and I breathed out a sigh of
happiness…. We both hung up and I couldn’t help the smile.
“Wow” i said again..
My phone starts to ring again.
“Annie.” I said into the phone.
“June… You’re blowing up the internet with your new song,
you’re blowing me up too, I can never get tired of listening
to the song over and over and I also love the music video the
bad vibe concept, the dance steps, June you’re killing me,
and I’ve been streaming your song since five a.m in the
morning, I’m also one of the people who bought your album
prepaid and now I’m broke. Well I’m just showing you how
big of a fan I am.”
“Awwn” I said with a smile.
“Don’t say that it makes you sound cheesy” Annie stated and
I laughed.
“Anyways June your song… Your song is a bop and… Hold
on… Wait. I gotta go, I think some thing’s wrong with my
mom” I said and cut the call in haste.
I hope everything is fine with her mom.
But still… I’m breaking a record, I’m only just a rookie artist
but yet the universe is already working with me.
Happiness sprung out of nowhere and my day suddenly
became flowery and sunny and bright and when the album
was released I kept on hearing good news. It was like a day
for me to shine.
Erick kept congratulating on the phone. Hannah called me
telling to get ready.
It was like a day meant for me.

That night Annie called back.
And I asked immediately.
“is your mom okay?”
“Great you remembered I said something was wrong with
her. Cause that’s what I wanted to talk to you about.” Annie
half yelled.
“Okay….
“Can you believe my mom is two months pregnant and she
and my dad kept it from me, cause they thought I would get
angry or it will take time for me to accept it, but so today my
mom couldn’t control the symptoms and she had to tell me!”
Annie explained.
“Wow” I said. “So… Are you good with the news?” I asked.
“of course I am” Annie replied.
“Cause you know how you always told your parents you
love being an only child” I smiled.
“Well, maybe having a brother or a sister won’t be that bad,
but I definitely want a sister, I know I used to love being an
only child but think about it, my parents will be so focused
on their new baby and worry less about me and that gives
me more freedom to go wherever I want to and besides
being a big sister is actually kind of nice” Annie said and I
couldn’t help but laugh.
“Oh Annie, when will you ever stop being a drama queen.” I
asked.
“when you break with Erick” she replied.
“Well that is never going to happen” I smiled.”See it’s the same for us. Now I have to go now, sleep tight”
Annie said and made a kissing sound before hanging up.
a knock came in at my door and when it opened my
grandma popped in.
“We ran out of groceries” my grandma stated.
“Oh, the grocery store is always open twenty four hours, I’ll
just tell vox to get grocies for us, since it’s dark” I said
standing up.
“Vox is asleep and vox is not your personal butler he’s just
your bodyguard, there’s a difference, I was thinking if we
could go together, cause if we don’t go tonight, it will be
pretty crowded by morning, you know how that store is” my
grandma said and I nodded. She has a point.
“But wait, if we both go and Auggie wakes up, you know
how he’ll react if he doesn’t see any of us at home, so you
stay home grandma, I’ll go get the grocies, it’s just six blocks
away” I said.
And thank goodness it’s nighttime, I’ll hardly get recognised.
“Thanks dear, this is the list of the grocies” my grandma said
shoving a paper into my hand.
I grabbed the cash from my grandma and scanned the list.
I smiled. “Grandma, you spelt the bell peppers wrong” I said
with a small laugh and my grandma glared at me.
“or maybe I read it wrong you know what grandma, ball
peppes are correct” I said and walked out the room before
she’ll take me back of when she started to learn how to read
and write.
The night breeze was lovely as I stepped out of the grocies
store with my left hand heavy from the plastic bag filled
with grocies.
I was crossing the empty and dark street when my phone
rang, I brought it out of my sweater jacket and placed the
phone on my ear. The number was unknown so I said hi
first.
“How is today my lucky day June” Giselle’s voice said Into
the phone and suddenly a light started to glow from behind
me.
I turned to see a car driving at me with full speed. Before I
could do anything everywhere suddenly went blank.
