Alexandra sat on the chair in front of the ward Kimberly’s father was. He was down because he knew he would never win over Kimberly’s heart no matter what he did.
Kimberly’s mother named Rachel noticed this and also felt bad for him. He has been nothing but a blessing to their family. Why isn’t Kim seeing he is the one meant for her.
“Alex,” Rachel called and Alex looked at her.
“Yes.” He responded trying to smile.
“I know you feel sad Alex. You don’t have to pretend you are okay.” She said and Alex sighed.
“I understand Kimberly ma’am. She doesn’t love me, and love can’t be forced.” He declared and Rachel shook her head.
“Love can’t be forced but can be grown. If she gives you a chance, she would love you as time goes on.” She said and Alex smiled.
“I don’t think she is even ready to give me a chance.” He said.
“She has to. You have been so generous to us In this family. You deserved to be happy.” Rachel said reaching for her phone.
“What are you doing?” Alex asked staring at her.
“If she can’t come to you, you will go to her.” She said dialing Kimberly’s number.
Kimberly was still busy in Landon’s bathroom when her phone began to vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out and when she saw it was her mom she sighed.
“What is it this time?” she thought. She picked it up and waited for her to speak up to be sure it wasn’t Alexander again.
“Kimberly.” Her mother called and she shut her eyes in relief. She didn’t want to hear Alex’s voice at all.
“Mom.” She responded sadly.
“You said you have found a job.” Her mother said and she knew exactly where she was headed.
“Yes, Mother. Can I call you back? I am quite busy.” She said trying to run away from that question but unfortunately, she couldn’t.
“Not yet. Where are you working?” she asked the multi-million dollar question and Kim bit her lower lip and shutting her eyes.
“I am a maid mom.” She dropped the bomb and her mother felt so embarrassed because she had her speaker on and Alex could hear what she said.
“A maid? Seriously,” Her mother said in disgust and Kim felt bad.
“Mom you shouldn’t complain. You said if I can’t secure a job with my certificate, I can find something else to do. I am doing this just to make you happy Mom. I am not asking you to be proud of me, but please appreciate my efforts.” She said and Rachel scoffed.
“There is nothing to appreciate Kimberly. Why are you suffering yourself? If you say yes to Alex, you wouldn’t have to suffer this way. You won’t need to work because he would take good care of you.” Rachel said looking at Alex who was smiling.
“Mom I am done having this Alex conversation with you. I am busy and I have to go now.” Kim said angrily.
“Ladies like you don’t wait to feel something for someone before saying yes to them. Most especially the ones that would make you happy.” Rachel added and this thing Kim hung up.
She knew what her mother meant. She wants her to marry Alex because of money. “Doesn’t she understand that money is not everything In a marriage?” she said to herself rolling her eyes.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened and Landon peeped In.
“What is taking so long?” he asked staring at her. He was eavesdropping and heard virtually everything.
“It’s not my fault. Why did you build your bathroom so big? It’s large enough to accommodate twenty people at the same time.” She started leaving a neutral expression on her face.
The last thing she wants is for Landon to see her down and sad. She won’t let happen.
“The size of my bathroom is none of your business. Your job is to clean it and be fast about it.” Landon ordered and Kim sighed bowing her head tiredly.
She wished she could give him a very hard punch on his face and make him bleed, but she couldn’t.
He is her only hope and jeopardizing that would mean she can’t pay Alex his money.
“I am done.” She said with a smirk on her face standing up. Landon looked around the bathroom for any stains but he saw known.
He walked away from the door and she walked out carrying the bucket in her hands.
“I think I am done for this morning.” She said smiling.
“You aren’t. I am yet to have breakfast.” Landon let out and Kim looked at him unbelievably.
“you want me to cook after doing all this? It’s my first day for crying out loud.” She asserted in frustration.
“That is why you are a maid,” Landon said walking to his closet.
“Stop using that name for me!” Kim yelled and Landon smiled.
“You have no right to tell me what to do and what not to do In my own house.” He said and Kim bit her lower lip hard.
“Order pizza.” She said walking to the door.
“If you leave this room, you leave this house,” Landon said in a cold voice making Kim stop abruptly.
“Why are you so mean? I hate you.” She mumbled to his hearing and he smirked.
“I don’t like you either.” He said and she turned to look at him.
“Then why did you pick me to be your maid? If you don’t have a soft spot for this crazy girl.” Kim said boastfully and Landon laughed.
“Don’t flatter yourself, baby girl. You are not my type.” He said and Kim laughed walking closer to him.
“I am not your type.” She whispered leaning towards him and he moved his head backward.
She kept moving her head to his and he kept moving back. Their eyes were locked and they could hear themselves breathe.
“Get back,” Landon said pushing her away carefully and she busted into laughter.
“You need to see how you looked at me. Just confess you are In love with me.” She said giggling and Landon folded his hands.
“Get out, and make me breakfast.” He said in a hoarse voice and Kim rolled her eyes walking out of that room.
“Annoying Boy!” She yelled inside of her.
