“Victor! Victor Cruz?!” Mavis called more like a question as she was surprised to see the guy standing in front of her.

“It’s nice to see you again, Mavis,” Victor said and Mavis gave him an awkward smile.

Vin knew they were old friends but the aura was not nice, so he just enjoyed his food while the two maintained the awkward silence.

Victor glanced at Vin and he inquired. “Your boyfriend?”

Mavis and Vin made eye contact and she turned to Victor with a bright smile, Vin knew she was up to something.

“Yes, Vincent meets Victor, an old friend,” she introduced and Vin forced a smile.

“Nice to meet you, Victor,” Vin said and stretched his hand for a shake but Victor was reluctant in shaking him.

“Same here,” Victor replied and they shook hands shortly.

“Excuse me,” Victor said and left. “Sorry I lied,” Mavis apologized and drank from her coffee.

“It’s fine and I can tell he is more than an old friend,” Vin replied.

“Yeah,” she replied and gently tuck her hair behind her ear.

“I’m guessing it was not a good history,” he added

“Fine, he is my ex-boyfriend okay, who ditched me for some rich brat,” she explained angrily.

“I’m sorry if I reminded you of an unpleasant past,” Vin apologized.

“Excuse me, I don’t think the client will make it,” she said and stood up, she walked out of the shop, and Victor who was watching from a distance followed later.

Vin noticed him following her and wanted to intervene but he thought it would upset Mavis.

“Mavis,” Victor called walking behind her. “Hey, wait,” he said holding her arm.

“What do you want?!” She snapped at him. “I mean no harm, I wanted to offer you a ride,” he replied and gestured at his car.

“I don’t remember asking, but thanks anyway,” she replied and made to leave but he held her wrist again.

“Are you mad at me?” He asked. “Mad? Why would I be? Why would any girl be mad at her ex-boyfriend who duped her for some rich girl? Why would I be mad? I have no reason to be mad and for the record, I have moved on, you saw my boyfriend in there right? That should tell you that I don’t cry over losers!” She fired and he just watched her with a smirk.

“Why are you smirking? Do I look funny to you?” She asked.

“No, you look cute and you are a terrible liar,” he replied and pulled her closer.

“You miss this loser mavis, you miss him and you have not moved on,” he whispered into her ears.

Vin who was watching from afar stood up and walked out of the shop.

“Tell me, Mavis, you found it hard to love right, you couldn’t find the right man to fûck you the way I did,” he continued whispering and Mavis felt disgusted.

“I can see it in your eyes, Mav,” he said and blew air on her neck, she tightened her fist and planned on hitting him when Vin showed up.

“Man, I think you are too close to my girlfriend,” Vin said and Victor smirked, he let go of Mavis and Vin wrapped his arm around her waist.

Victor chuckled and rubbed his temple. “I mean no harm, I was just having a conversation,” he said.

“I think we should take our leave now,” Vin said to Mavis who was too shocked to respond.

Victor watched them walk towards Vin’s car, he opened the door for Mavis and she got in.

He walked to the other side which was the driver’s seat, he got in and drove off.

“I will have you in my arms again, Mavis Grey,” Victor muttered to himself and walked back to his car.

In Vin’s car, Mavis kept staring outside. She wanted to appreciate Vin but was too angry to do that, she was mad at herself for letting Victor wall all over her again.

“Where is your company?” Vin asked breaking the long silence. “I’m going home,” she replied.

“Home? Aren’t you supposed to return to work?” Vin asked.

“I don’t want to,” she replied. “You are gonna skip work because of that jerk face?!” He asked, surprised.

“Why do you care if I skip work or not? Why does anyone give a damn about me? Why not let me be?!” She screamed as tears fell from her eyes.

That was not how she planned her day, she wanted things to go smoothly and fine but Victor had to show up from the pit of hell and give her a headache.

“I understand you are angry, and you are free to take it out on me or the car, it’s fine,” he said and she let the tears in her eyes flow freely on her cheeks.

It was late at night and Cisco was much better, he has not wakened up but he was responding to treatment

Dr. Malcolm a few minutes ago got a call from the hospital.

“Should I bring your food?” Fiona asked and Thea shook her head sideways.

“I’m not hungry,” she replied. “He is going to be fine and you need the energy to take care of him, don’t you agree? And the best way to get energy is to eat,” she said, trying to cheer her up.

“I will eat when he is fine,” Thea said and faced Cisco. “Wake up,” she whispered.

Fiona stood beside her as they both waited for him to open his eyes, Thea checked his temperature and heart now and then.

“Thea,” she heard a weak voice can her and she raised her head to find Cisco staring at her.

“Francisco,” she called excitedly. “What happened?” He asked as he tried to sit up but Thea prevented him from doing so.

“You should lie down until you are strong enough,” Thea said and he frowned, he had no idea why he was in bed.

“Why do I need to stay in bed?” He asked. “You lost consciousness in the bathroom,” she replied.

His mind drifted to the message and he remembered everything that happened before he lost consciousness.

“Can I get a glass of water?” He asked and she nodded, he waited until she left the room before sitting up.

He reached for his phone which was on the table beside the bed, he tapped on the message again and his heart beat faster.

*Do you think you can escape karma? I will avenge her*

“Cisco,” Thea called when she noticed how anxious he was as he stared intently at his phone, he dropped the phone and diverted his gaze at her.

“Are you okay?” Thea asked and he nodded with a forced smile. “Should I get doctor Malcolm?” She asked as she gave him the glass of water.

“I’ll be fine,” he replied, Thea could sense that something was wrong but she was too worried about his derailed health

“Are you hungry?” Thea asked. “No, I just wanna rest,” he replied.

“You can, I will watch you,” she said. “You don’t have to, go to your room,” he said.

“Why do I need to leave?” Thea inquired, sadly.

“Just… I need to be alone, please,” he requested and she knew her suspicions were right.

“Call me if you need anything,” she said and left his room. Cisco got out of bed and opened the window, he closed his eyes and inhale then exhale.

**********

Octavia waited in the living from for her husband who has cultivated the habit of going home late.

Flora would ask about him numerous times and she keeps lying but she was tired of lying to her daughter and he should tell her whatever problem it is he has.

“Good night ma’am,” Naomi said to Octavia who was standing by the window waiting for her husband

“Night,” she replied and Naomi went to her room.

After waiting for another half an hour, Greg’s car finally showed up.

Octavia waited for him to walk in, and she walked away from the window.

“You are back,” she said and he flinched. “Why are you still awake?” He questioned.

“I was waiting for you,” she replied. “You didn’t have to,” he said and headed towards their room.

“Really? You made coming home late at night a habit and it was not necessary to wait for you?” Octavia scoffed.

“Tell me where you have been, Gregory. What have you been doing out late every night?” She questioned

“I owe you no explanation woman,” he replied and went into the room.

“Woman?” Octavia repeated as it sounded strange to her hearing. “We are not done here, Greg!” She snapped and followed him into the room.

“Keep your voice down! You wouldn’t want to wake Flora,” he said.

“It would be cool if she wakes up, she will be able to ask you in person why you no longer have dinner at home,” she replied stubbornly and folded her arms under her breast.
