JERICHO’S WEAKNESS Episode 59

Valerie stopped right on her tracks. Hold on…did she just hear her correctly?

She turned quickly to look at her.

“What…did you just say?” She asked, retreating her steps back to her

“You heard me, honey” Hapitha was grinning from ear to ear.
“Like I said, I’m only here to help. I can make you get to Jericho so you can let him know you’re pregnant”.

Valerie was stunned. In t the first place, how did she know she was pregnant? And secondly, how can she take her to Jericho when he’s in a different part of the world??

She stared keenly at her.

“How is it possible?” She asked, her eyes staring suspiciously at Hapitha.

“Are you really asking me that?” Hapitha chuckled.
“It’s my home Valerie and I can get the whole world there if I want to. The question should be – do you really want to go?

“Imagine meeting with your Jericho again and being in his arms. Imagine the expression on his face when you tell him you’re carrying his child. Oh! It’s going to be unimaginable, Valerie”
She paused and laughed.

“I’m pretty sure Jericho would be so happy to hear that from you”.

“And why should I trust you?” Valerie asked. “Why would you want to help me in the first place?”

Hapitha hesitated a little, then continued:

“Dear Valerie” she smiled. “if I wanted to kill you, I’d have done it from a hundred miles away. I’m only trying to help…”

“So, you’re just gonna take me to an entirely different planet? How do I cope from there?” She inquired.

“It’s just like this very planet – earth. There are living people there and all you have to do is ask for Jericho. He’s a Prince and is well known over there. Getting a person to lead you to him wouldn’t be a problem. And guess the best, you can actually leave whenever you want to.

“I’m offering you a once in a life time opportunity, Valerie. If you need it, you know where to find me” she stated conclusively and left while Valerie just stared feebly at her.

Could this be a dream?

Valerie drove back to the house, feeling so thankful she’d been able to arrive safely since her head had been so full and made her confused.

Hapitha’s words wouldn’t stop replaying in her head:

*Imagine meeting with your Jericho again and being in his arms? Imagine the expression on his face when you tell him you’re carrying his child? Oh! It’s going to be unimaginable, Valerie!”

She snapped back to reality. Could Hapitha be telling her the truth? what if she was only setting a trap for her? But what if she was really trying to help her? Argh! She felt so confused!!

She parked her car in the garage and stepped out weakly, her entire system feeling so weak.

She felt terribly sick, terribly hungry and terribly disorganized. God! She needed to be saved!

She walked into the house and met her mum in the sitting room, making some calls.

“Valerie!” Mrs Houston called in relief and ran to her for a hug.

“My God! Where have you been? I’ve been so worried about you. You…”

“I’m fine, mum” Valerie cut her off weakly.
“Just get me something to eat, please”.

Mrs Houston was still worried. Could it be possible her father’s words had really gotten to her that much?

“Of…of course, honey. Of course. Just wait here” she led her to sit on a couch and quickly ran into the kitchen afterwards.

A frustrated tear came rolling down Valerie’s cheek as she sat tiredly on the couch. Her hand went over her tummy, carassing it lightly. She was so tired; so so tired.

Maybe, she really needed to see Jericho afterall.

Hapitha grinned as she stood in front of the dirty window, just gazing outside.

Oh, poor Valerie! She really thought she wanted to help her huh? She’s actually trusting her? Hmph.

Well, she didn’t lie about getting her to Jericho. She was really going to take her to the planet. But what she doesn’t know… she’s bound to die as soon as she arrives. And before Jericho would get to know, he’d only be seeing the corpse of his pregnant ex-lover.

She paused and giggled to herself.

She really couldn’t wait for her to fall into her trap.
