JERICHO’S WEAKNESS Episode 71

As Monhana was about leaving for the palace the following morning, she told Valerie to keep her fingers crossed and hope there would really be Vacancy. And when she finally left, Valerie had sat down to pray it really worked out.

She thought for a long time, imagining how she’d rejoice when she finally gets to earth. Even in her next life, she was never going to think of traveling to another planet. Never.

Her happiness suddenly faded away when she recalled the fact that she was still pregnant. Goodness! What does she do about it?

Frankly speaking, she was scared and wondered if she’ll ever be able to get rid of it at this stage. But… does she even want to get rid of it?

Jericho might have been a jerk, but was she ready to kill her own child?

Her head was beginning to ache from the too many puzzles and thoughts and she decided to put an end to it.

There was a bowl of nuts on the table close to her which Monhana had left for her to eat when she was hungry. As since she had become hungry, she decided to make use of it.

She drew it close and began eating the unfamiliar thoughts, her mind suddenly drifted to her parents. Although, she didn’t want to think anymore since her head was aching, she just couldn’t help it.

Her mum; she must be so worried about her; no doubt. How could she be, Valerie wondered?

If only she had the opportunity to change the hands of time. It was all Hapitha’s fault. The old witch had made her believe Atlancia was just like earth and Jericho was on a green land, waiting for her. She had no idea she was coming to a place of doom.

Suddenly, there was a creaky sound – the sound of a door opening.

Valerie turned snappily to have a look and was shocked when she discovered it was Monhana’s daughter – Rika.

For a second, Valerie was frightened, recalling all Monhana told her about the lady, but somehow, she didn’t feel like running away.

She remained sitting and stared at the lady who was staring strangely at her. Her hair was so ruffled and looked dirty; and so were her clothes.

Her face had some dirt as well and with her long dirty hair flopped over her face, she had to mange her stares from the strands.

The two ladies continued staring at each other for a pretty long time until Valerie noticed her gaze had partially moved to the nuts in front of her.

She looked down at the nuts, then looked back at the lady and wondered if she wanted some. So, slowly, she reached for the bowl, took out three nuts and stretched it out to her.

“Need some?” She asked in a low tone.
She was trying to sound and act careful, not wanting to affect the girl in anyway. And for a long time, Rika, just stared at her without saying anything or making a move.

Of course, she wouldn’t talk – Valerie thought.

She was about returning the nuts to the bowl when she suddenly noticed a movement and quickly lofted her head to notice the lady was coming towards her.
Huh???? She was moving!

Valerie’s eyes beamed in surprise and delight immediately. She was responding!

She stretched her hand again, immediately with the nuts in it and naively, Rika got to where she was and collected the nuts from it. Wow…. Valerie was surprised.

She watched as Rika chewed the nuts slowly, like a baby. But taking a good look at her face since she was standing close to her, she could tell she was a matured lady and not a teenager or something. Although, Valerie knew she’d be older than her.

“Do you…. like it?” She asked softly, but Rika said nothing as she still chewed slowly on the nuts while staring at her.

Valerie then went ahead to take more nuts from the bowl and stretched it out to her, and she collected it, chewing all.

She couldn’t tell wuuz she felt so much happiness watching the lady eat. Why did Monhana make her sound scary when she wasn’t?

“Um…why don’t you sit so you can have more?” Valerie asked but surprisingly, Rika turned around and walked away, returning to her secluded room.

Huh? Valerie was puzzled. Did she say something wrong?

She stretched her neck to the door, wishing she’d come out again or something. But why did she just walk away?

Few Minutes Later, the main door opened with Monhana walking in.

“Valerie!” She called happily, her eyes beaming.
It made Valerie sprang from her feet immediately.

“Monhana…..”

“I have goodnews for you. You’ve been accepted to work as a maid in the palace..!” She beamed.

Max stood under the tree as he waited for his friend to lock the door.

“Hurry up, Pete! We don’t have so much time” He called from behind and shortly, Pete met up with him.

“Calm down, Max. Why are you in so much of a hurry to get to the palace?” His friend asked with a chuckle, but Matt said nothing as he started walking away.

He only smiled when he felt the necklace still in his pocket.
