Rebecca felt a slight tremble within her at his words and she tried effortlessly not to make it visible.
“Yes Dad” she replied him, gulping.
He gave her a cold look and began walking towards the door but paused when he reached it and turned to her.

“You’re grounded. No outings, visitations or phone calls. Just you and your books. Studying” he said. “Let me have your phone” he said.
Rebecca shakily released her phone to him.
He collected it and walked out.
Rebecca sighed loudly as the door gave a slight bang behind her.

She had expected more, she had seen the urge in his eyes to do more and she was glad he didn’t.
Well, what new thing would he do anyways?

If he hadn’t been sorry for her about her transfer to another class, he would’ve done much more worse than just grounding her. She walked to the scattered papers on the floor and picked them up bit by bit. She trashed them and went to her backpack, she zipped open the smallest side and brought out her phone card from it.
Good thing she removed it in the car, it was more important to her.
She walked to the door and locked it properly, one mistake

She quickly changed from her uniform before walking towards her closet, she brought out the single key from the tiny purse she had sewed under the rug and unlocked her closet door.
Unlocked; she walked in. The huge shelf she and her mom had set as a barrier and to make her dad unsuspecting if he eventually found his way into the supposed closet, stood before her. She walked to it and pushed at a bare part, it gave way and formed a door, opening.
She stepped into the room and stared around the mini studio she and her mom had made and customized for her.

The only room in the whole house that made her feel like what she really is. A room she wished she didn’t have to hide from certain people. A room where she could flawlessly display her talent and fulfil her dreams without anyone opposing it..

Jeremy stared at the clock, it was few minutes after four. He had noticed it, just after calling Brianna and informing her ahead of his lateness for the continuation of their class project together.
He pocketed his phone, slung his small bag across his shoulder and walked out of his room.
Arriving at the living room, he found Kylie and Axel busy with tutor class that had now turned to a routine. He noticed Axel was spelling the numbers fluently. He was catching up pretty fast, Kylie had informed him and watching Axel read diligently, he had no reason to doubt her.

“H-U-N-D-R-E-D; 100!” Axel spelt the last word alongside a sigh.
“That was very impressive, Axel!” Kylie commended, smiling hugely at him. “I’m sure when you eventually start school, your classmates will be super shocked and jealous about how smart you are” she said, rubbing his head.
Axel giggled.
“And I’ll get straight A’s” he added.
“If you keep this up, then I don’t doubt that” Kylie said and Axel giggled happily again.
“And when I grow up, I’ll be the next Albert Einstein” he continued. “No, I’ll be smarter and popular than Albert Einstein, I’ll be the smartest person that have ever existed” he bragged.
“Hey, slow down little man. It’s very possible to be greater than Albert Einstein if you study really hard and be a good kid but you’ve gotta take it one step at a time, okay?” Kylie said and he nodded.
“And for getting the number spellings correctly, Jeremy have promised to get you that action figure you’ve always wanted” Kylie added with a mischievous smile and Jeremy’s brows narrowed.
“Wait..when did-
“Commando spawn?” Axel’s eyes widen in shock.
“That’s right!” Kylie nodded with a grin, ignoring the look Jeremy gave her.
“Really? Thank you so much!” Axel rushed to Jeremy and engulfed him in a hug.
“Why would you do that?” Jeremy mouthed at Kylie.
“Come-on, it’s just one toy” she rolled her eyes.
“Uh..you’re welcome” Jeremy said when Axel disengaged from the hug.
He went back to Kylie.
Jeremy decided to leave them before he gets to the library late, considering the long minutes of trekking.
“And for every work you get correctly, Jeremy will add an extra action figure of your choice to the list!” Kylie added and Jeremy eyes dimmed.
“Whoa! Really?!” Axel gasped happily.
“When did-
Jeremy was about to ask but he left it aside, it would only make him late. He gave Kylie a frown and walked out, heading to the library.

Jeremy walked out of the library, people that had visited were staring at him as he kept walking to and fro the library, looking for Rebecca.
He sighed and decided to walk around for the last time, it earned him cold looks this time and frequently, he had to apologise for the disturbance and irritation.
He walked back to the library assistant to sign out.
“You’re leaving quite earlier today?” She observed.
“Yeah. I’m meeting someone” he said and signed out before walking out of the library.
Getting out, he tilt his head around for her but he didn’t see her anywhere around.
He reached for his phone.

It buzzed just a soon as he touched it and he checked, it was a text message from Rebecca. He hastily clicked on it.
**I can’t make it. Sorry**
Jeremy sighed after reading the message, biting his lips hard to suppress his anger.
He haven’t been this pissed his entire life. He should’ve known this earlier, her constant excuse and sudden revelation.
She must be having fun pranking him this way.

He sighed, releasing his bloodshot lip, he walked to the store.

The next morning, Rebecca hopped down from her mom’s car.
“Bye honey!” Her mom waved at her. She returned the wave and walked into the school gate. She made a turn to the school building.
“Rebecca?” Jeremy called, sighting her from behind.
She turned and Jeremy stepped in front of her.

“Seriously,” he said, giving her a straight look. “Of all the things you could use to mess with me, you chose that. How fun was it for you?” He asked.
“What are you talking about?” She asked him.. her brows narrowing at the look he gave her.
“You don’t have to pretend, Rebecca. I don’t even know why I believed you in the first place. You have no idea how much meeting and knowing JD means to me, no idea at all.. Why prank me with that of all things? I seriously believed you! I was damn excited and-
Jeremy lowered his voice, realising he was starting to get loud and create attention.
“It wasn’t a prank” she said.
“Yeah? Then can you prove it to me. Prove it to me right now, Rebecca, Prove to me that you’re JD! Do you know how pissed I was yesterday. It’s fine to mess with me but that was extreme”
“I wasn’t messing with you, Jeremy and I don’t have to prove anything to you” she said, getting pissed to.
He wasn’t even listening to her.
“Tch..” Jeremy scoffed. “Look, I’ve known you to be rude and mean and annoying but I didn’t think you’d stoop so low to mess with me that way. And the heck, I believed you! I should’ve known better; a girl like you, with all your attributes can never be JD. You both are way too opposite”

“I don’t care what you believe!” she said.
“Of course. Cos you’re you, Rebecca. And I’m fine with being messed with but it annoys me a lot that you might have gone around telling people that you’re JD!. It’s very disrespectful to her cos you both are in no way alike, JD can never be like you and because it’s JD, I won’t hesitate to get involved. So, just stop this prank if you’re thinking of going on with it” he said, Rebecca saw every iota of seriousness in his words and eyes. Jeremy gave her a look, he couldn’t help but get angry at her. She went way beyond the line.
Rebecca stared at him as he walked away, she didn’t know how to feel.
He had just insulted her and at the same time defended ‘her’.

They weren’t compatible? Tch..
